Elven Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. It is Elven’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website, https://elven.co.nz. Don’t worry, Tarin is not going to sell your information to the highest bidder.

Data Logs

When you visit our website, our servers may automatically log the standard data provided by your web browser. It may include your computer’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, your browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on each page, and other details.

Device data

We may also collect data about the device you’re using to access our website. This data may include the device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, device settings, and geo-location data. What we collect can depend on the individual settings of your device and software. We recommend checking the policies of your device manufacturer or software provider to learn what information they make available to us.

Advertising

We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our web site. The main company used to be Project Wonderful who truly lived up to their name, but they shut down and now we are stuck with other less cool companies like Google Adsense. These companies may use aggregated information (not including your name, address, email address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other Web sites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. Chances are if you use anything by Google, they already know everything about you, and what you are about to do next. Targeted ads are the least of your worries, at least you might see something you need to buy.

Update 03/09/2019 – We now also use Comic Ad Network, which appears to be the successor to Project Wonderful. Happy to be supporting these guys, and hope they do very well in the future!

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Site stats

This site uses the SlimStat plugin, which gathers information about your browser, platform (iOS, windows, mac OS etc) and IP address purely for analytics. Here we learn where all our readers are from so we can spell things like “aluminium” incorrectly for the majority of readers from the USA.

Cookies

We use “cookies” to collect information about you and your activity across our site. A cookie is a small piece of data that our website stores on your computer, and accesses each time you visit, so we can understand how you use our site. This helps us serve you content based on preferences you have specified.

Limits

Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and policies of those sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy practices.
