I find it interesting that this person is wearing a plague doctor mask given that the doctors who wore it and made it ‘popular’ believed that putting smelling salts and herbs in the nose part would prevent them from Catching disease. Pretty much the antithesis of reasoned scientific thought.
I disagree. At the time, using smelling herbs was a logical conclusion considering the knowledge people had at that time: basically only that sick people smelled bad and that people near sick would be infected.
